Postdoctoral position Laboratoire GEMaC

The Laboratoire GEMaC (Groupe d'Etude de la Materière Condensée) at the University of Versailles/Saint-Quentin, University of Paris-Saclay are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the areas of ferromagnetic resonance and optical absorption in metallic materials. The research topic will be the study of magneto-plasmonic interactions in nanostructured magnetic/metallic hybrid systems.

The post is initially for a period of 12 months and is renewable for a further 12 months.
The GEMaC laboratory is a mixed research unit of the CNRS and the University of Versailles/Saint-Quentin, University of Paris-Saclay and is home to research groups in the areas of Functional Magnetic Oxides, New Semiconductors and Properties, Diamond for Electronics, Magnetic and Photo-switchable Molecules and Optics at the Nanoscale.
The postdoc will work jointly with the “Functional Magnetic Oxides” and “Optics at the Nanoscale” groups to develop a vector network analyser based ferromagnetic resonance system which will simultaneously operate in conjunction with optical absorption measurements. Experience in one or both techniques is highly desirable.

Required qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in physics or nanoscience/nanotechnology.
Moreover, the candidate must have:
• experience with ferromagnetic materials
• experience with electrical measurements (such as lock-in techniques)
• experience in magnetic nanostructures and thin films
Preference will be given to candidates with:
• experience with optical absorption measurements
• experience with preparation of nano-materials
• excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills.
• peer-reviewed publications in the fields discussed above
• demonstrated ability to independently advance a cross-disciplinary research activity in a project with multiple collaborators.
