Covid19: GEMaC maintains its activities during UVSQ shutdown
on the May 5, 2020
Glove donation for local hospitals.
During the health crisis linked to the Covid19 pandemic, UVSQ along with other French universities had to close its doors on March 16, 2020. Nevertheless, the activities of the GEMaC continued unabated.
At the beginning of the the lockdown of the laboratory, the GEMaC management set up a specific organisation cell, composed of the direction board, team leaders and other specific staff. During the first week of the lockdown, GEMAC staff donated disposable gowns and gloves to the health workers of several local hospitals.
Since the start of lockdown, GEMaC members are working from their homes. Our university colleagues are teaching remotely in order to ensure the continuity of the teaching process. Research activities are shifted to those that can be carried out at home. Teams and departments communicate by video and conference calls. The management team and the supervisors continue to interact, in particular to establish the procedures for deconfinement after May 11.
Master internships are maintained. Our seven trainees start or continue their work at home, in conjunction with their supervisors and their host team. On the other hand, the management of the UFR des sciences, in association with the physics department, has decided to cancel the L3 physics internships.
